ATTENTION TOWN OF BRUTUS RESIDENTS

Apply to Join the Town of Brutus Board of Assessment Review (BAR)

The Board of Assessment Review (BAR) consists of five residents of the community appointed by the Town of Brutus Town Board.

The BAR’s sole purpose is to arrive at a fair and impartial decision regarding the assessment on property. The BAR hearings evaluate assessment reviews (grievance applications) and are open to the public under the State’s Open Meeting Law.  Typically, the BAR meets the fourth Tuesday of May each year.  If you would like to be a part of this important impartial decision-making process for your Town, apply today! You must be a resident of the Town of Brutus to become a BAR member.

Resumes can be sent to the Town Office at PO Box 720, Weedsport, NY 13066 or dropped off at 9021 N. Seneca Street, Weedsport, NY 13166 or emailed to townofbrutus@centralny.twcbc.com (Subject BAR) and must be returned by November 12, 2024.

Apply to Join the Town of Brutus Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA)

We currently need alternate members for each board.  An alternate member attends all meetings but does not vote on the items before the board unless there is not a quorum of regular members, at which time the alternate member would vote. It is therefore important that alternate members attend each meeting as they may need to vote on the proposed project.

The Zoning Board of Appeals reviews applications for variances to the current zoning laws and special permits for Town parcels only.

The Zoning Board of Appeals does not meet as often and they meet the second Wednesday of the month, if they have an application before them.
