PROTECTING RESIDENTIAL UTILITY AND MUNICIPAL CUSTOMERS DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC
*An amendment to the Public Service Law is in place to prevent disconnecting residential electricity, gas, steam, telephone, water during the COVID PANDEMIC.
*The law further prohibits disconnections for non-payment for 180-days after the state of emergency is lifted or expired, if the customer has experienced a change in financial circumstances during the state of emergency.
THE LAW DOES NOT ELIMINATE A CUSTOMER'S OBLIGATION TO PAY FOR SERVICE.
