Town Board Special Meeting Minutes
The Town Board of the Town of Brutus held a virtual special meeting on March 11, 2021 at 9:30 AM via GoTo Meetings application. The instructions for joining the meeting were posted on the town website, the office doors of town hall and at the Weedsport post office.
Present:
James Hotaling, Town Supervisor Thomas Flynn, Deputy Supervisor
Amy Chirco, Councilor John Abraham, Councilor (9:35 AM)
Angela Skellington, Town Clerk Absent: Derric Slocum, Councilor
Opening: Supervisor Hotaling called the meeting to order at 9:30 AM
Supervisor Hotaling closed the public hearing on Local Law # 1 of 2021 – Prohibiting Sale and Possession of Dangerous Substances that are Mislabeled (opened the public hearing at the regular town board meeting held on March 8, 2021).
Motion by Councilor Chirco to adopt Local Law # 1 of 2021 – Prohibiting Sale and Possession of Dangerous Substances that are Mislabeled. Motion seconded by Deputy Supervisor Flynn.

RES 28-2021 VOTE: 4 ayes, 1 absent, 0 nays. Carried.
Clerk Skellington spoke of the upcoming Fair Housing Month.
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Title VII Fair Housing Policy of the Civil Rights Act of 1968 and the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 and,
WHEREAS, the month of April 2021 has been designated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity as Fair Housing Month,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Brutus hereby declares and proclaims April as Fair Housing Month in the Town.
Motion by Councilor Chirco, second by Deputy Supervisor Flynn.
RES 29-2021 VOTE: 4 ayes, 1 absent, 0 nays. Carried.
As staff continue to work with the consultant on the revised Employee Handbook, the clerk asked if the Election Day holiday could be removed and instead, the Day After Thanksgiving could be observed. This has been the practice for office staff for many years as the office is open on Election Day with regular business transactions. The board agreed to this.
The clerk forwarded the 30-day advance notice for renewal of liquor license for Meadowbrook Golf Club via email. The board did not have any issues on this renewal.
Motion to close the meeting at 9:40 AM made by Deputy Supervisor Flynn, second by Councilor Abraham.
