MINUTES
TOWN OF BRUTUS AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE
1/17/11
The January meeting of the Town of Brutus Agricultural Advisory Committee was held on Monday, 1/17/11. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Peter Kyle at 7:03 PM.
Present were Board members: Peter Kyle; Dave Miller; Jill Pacholyk; Rick O'Connor; John Roden; Greg Weller; and Mike Glowacki.
The Board agenda included the following items.
•1. Approval of Minutes -
A motion to approve the November minutes was made by Rick O'Connor seconded by Mike Glowacki. All voted in favor.
•2. Correspondence and/or communications -
Peter Kyle distributed copies of the most recent Census of Agriculture for Cayuga County. A discussion ensued.
•3. Old Business -
•A. Finalize informational piece regarding committee activities and projects -
The Committee members received a draft document prepared by Dave Miller to be used as a mailer to let Town residents and particularly farmers know about the Committee and its role. There was a consensus that the draft material should be sent locally and that it be sent, along with a Press Release, to local newspapers. Motion to send the letter and press release was made by Dave Miller, seconded by John Roden. All voted in favor.
•B. Right to Farm Law -
At the previous meeting the Committee authorized Dave Miller to draft a local version of a Right To Farm Law for discussion and consideration.
The Committee discussed the draft he presented. Some changes were suggested and Dave Miller agreed to make these and submit a revised draft for consideration at the next meeting.
•4. New Business -
The group agreed that the next meeting will be held on February 21, 2011 at 7 PM.
There was no additional business to come before the Committee.
•5. Adjournment -
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM.
